about

It is great sitting here, a little bit beside myself and watching the Winamp visualisations related to the album La Commedia Divina and notice that also this engine is using fractal patterns and the fractal way while zooming in. . Usually, I wanted to film them with the cam but all the time it was so dark while the daytime and always when I want to film something it is totally bright the sun is out but a cold wind is around so it is not really warm.
I should film the visualisations and merge them with the videos the poor bot Hal2000 has created along the progress of creating cover art.
I'm still thinking if I should just release it not as a Schroedinger's Cat album but under another name... as I said it will be the last Schroedinger's Cat album it should maybe not be the last album so then the last album will be never released if it is released under another name. should I be that optimistic related to my nerve illness?
I have no clue with all sideprojects and the mainband I am involved in, this will always be part of the cat and part of me. I'm the key, the connection. so as long as I will be busy and release the missing albums which are on the harddisk but because of that disaster with bandmembers going to the right side of the spectrum and being kicked out thru this, I decided not to take any of their input and deleted it out of the mix to play them as far as I can play the instrument-on my own which was also a reason for me to learn to drum.
I'm a lousy drummer, I use it more as an effect with some rhythmical tendencies when I am in a good mood with less pain, some stuff I drummed on the side project with Shane was not the best work so I have to do it again.
Between the worlds a light shade of a composition for the side project with Martin Neuhold is shimmering thru, in this case, the distraction with Shane was right good even though it is not finished have to work on the mix and add drums and maybe a tiny little bit of more sitar and/or bulbul tarang to it, but first doing something with his voice. I have some ideas though will try them out when I am over the next two days :) (birthday + recovering, each a day :D )
this visualization tool I think I need something like this but with a few additional functions like adding pictures to it, own creations and also own clips.
I remember in the older days one of the first visualisation tools was named CTHUGA and it crashed very often and you needed not a special video board for it, more the opposite because one PC with a great graphic board with 4MB RAM and an additional 4MB Videoram as you could grab videos with this, always used to crash when I used it lol, but already a very short time later Winamp had it built-in long before the windows Mediaplayer was able to do these things lol. good ol' times.

La Commedia is more meant a Dada album as of the Inferno which is part 2 or in the original book 1 of the Epos I think about since that ugly war started at our backdoor.
Very untypically for my own work is that I composed wide parts of the whole thing and not only improvised in it like usual. and there were from my side already 400 recording hours done. only recording but often also improving little errors when one or another note was a bit too besides. and it is the first time ever I reached the border of the Korg D1600 16-channel tracker parallel. I had to add partwise also channels to the Audacity file in which the 16 channels landed to free some tracks again for some more space.
When I finished the Paradiso and I was really proud of my work, I had so much good inspiration that I started to create the Nirvana-Elysium Trilogy and finished it too.
Then it is the first cat album ever I also have not used many chords. I used often oriental tone keys and tone scales but with Western European instruments mostly, except for the Suartmandal, the mighty Sitar, and the Bulbul Tarang, a bass played like a tanpura tuned differently than normal. and played with string picks and sliders. lots of different string sounds are heard... also wind and woodwind sounds and so on and each one was separately recorded.
Originally I wanted to ask some friend musicians to join it but then I had a look around, I saw everyone you could imagine was busy playing and recording music and so on, so I knew there is no chance to get anyone involved and so I decided to record it completely alone.
Actually Woody is mastering parts of it, even though I think the sound was not as bad as it is usual, and I worked with a principle I don't understand the focus squarely on the project and I am totally happy with this album for the first time in my life I'm haüppy with an album, instead of thinking like usual oh hell totally crap but worked too long on it, ok it doesn't matter let's release this crap. lol
The album's quality improved since I mix it on the pc, as there it's much easier to change parts only of each channel in volume or to delete an empty part out of it killing the noise totally easily. Also, the musicians who crossed my path in the last few years were awesome and often they also left a playing technique with me, so a new thing on the La Commedia is also that I glissed and slide a lot of soli on the whole 9 albums, but-also very unusual- I played the melody-soli pure without many effects on it. I've turned my 12-string acoustic guitar, into an AOUD but with steel, strings tuned like an AOUD and as it has frets I used a little bottle or a metal slider like a cigarette lighter or another metal piece, so I could reach that tiny tunes between the tones that you can always play if a string instrument has non-frets like an AOUD, OUD or many other Persian, Afghanistan and Indian instruments have.
New was also the vibraphone sounds between the drumsets. along with Rayal, Aryal and Larry S. Dreamer, also I played the drums in change with the so-called vibraphone sound of the same machine. it was pure fun to do these tracks. :)
All drum machines that were ever used for Schroedinger's Cat albums, were involved in it. well, ex-drummers I cannot ask, some left the band or were kicked out, them I would never ask, and the others, except for two who disappeared, went too early over the rainbow bridge, all quite too and often much too early.
so I had to do it. As I had no clue what to do and how to control the machine, the sounds sometimes funny and that I have hit the point on time was very often a funny coincidence, but hey I had fun. to try a dream I had already at the age of eight.
What could be better as the La Commedia by Dante Alighieri; the immortal poet from Firenze who chose not Latin as the language to write it in, no , he chose his dialect from Florence, Firenze, an old version of the Italiano of today, The Inferno-maybe to his fate being banned out of the city he was born? to Purgatorio where the souls and spirits get cleaned up to Paradiso, where his friend and helper Vergil ism not allowed to enter as he was not a christian, where he meets the mysterious Beatrice who leads him thru the Paradiso.
While the path thru the nine circles of hell, Dante named them Inferno in his Epos, wound down into the earth on the northern hemisphere and before was the Limbus where he met the ancient famous poet Vergilius who became his leader thru it until the gates to Paradise.
I love stories like that. They are great. The Purgatory leads up into the sky and after seven spheres on the top are the gates to Paradiso the paradise, where only happiness and peace is, the nirvana in Dante’s Epos.
As we have dark times, it only can improve. Until the Paradise Peace on Earth.
And before these things happened that wars actually the fear of a second Cold war, the fear of the nuclear danger from the east this time, again. So war should end and the people who suffer should have better times the other a not that greedy time, stop of pollution, Freedom for everybody, We Are One!!!!
And with this great feeling, I felt just more inspiration and also recorded another trilogy dedicated to the ancient greek Valhalla, the Elysium, to where the gods and the heroes come, the Heaven of the Hashashin, the Secret circle of assassins who were with hassan ih Sabbah, and so on, Paradise in our world for ancient cultures, mostly.
We reached a point in the history of Mother Earth a point now, where we can decide if our children’s children still have a planet where they can live on.
So I pray and hope for Mother Earth, that humans will recognize that they shouldn’t destroy the planet where we live on in the final somng ofn the Nine albums as the Elkysium and Nirwana Trilogy album belongs to La Commedia Divina as the Divine part as this word was not part of La Commedia of Dante, someone added it later.

I love Happy Ends !!!

No animal was harmed with this production, all voices, screams, and so on, were done with synthesizers, glisses and similar effects. If you have ever heard how a Sitar sounds with a detuned gliss on a string that is four, 2,31 halftones below a similar one in our tone keys, believe me this sounds that strange that you think a demon was tortured in the background. Also no Demons were harmed in any form. Also Lord Moony often sat besides on the seat and listened as I played not very loud,-) he slept but his ears reached the sky -this curious little beast.
I’ve used also technics and ways to play I used mostly for the first time on the third album of the side project Indian Kozmoz, that is still not released because it needs more instruments on it. To work within the tunes to align the guitars and synths to the Ragas and the Sitarsounds and not opposite as usual. This technics I saw and heard the first time of Dani Speakman, in his house in Somerset, he was the Elf in the sideproject Elf-Troll. Guess who was the Troll? ;-)
Than at the unconventional gathering of zeros were quite a few doing gliss and later Will played with us for one gig, here was the gliss (RIP Brother you are missed :-(, then Vince Cory. Since my nerve illness broke thru I was not able to try it again.

The Celtic Harp of my sister was for the first time involved in a production, several times on all nine albums, sometimes only some effects in the far background, sometimes louder. Melody patterns inside some intros but then played with delays until it was just shimmer in the air…

So I used of following Guitarsynths following sounds of instruments, so called patches often a self-programmed one. Rekorders, flutes, piccolo flute, tin whistle, woodwinds, clarinet on one track, fagot on one other. Different violines, but also as a trio, Cellos, Contrabass, duets flute-violine and many mellotron sound, alone in the GR 33 and GR55 synthesizers of Roland, are many built-in, it is a lot of fun to program them.
Many guitarsounds as well. Bass guitar sounds, other string instruments, and so on.
But organ like sounds choirs came from both synths but also of the Roland RS-70 that was also involved and one porta key keyboard of Yamaha and one of Casio.
Along with it also my WERSI Stage Performer which was involved for a second time now into a Cat production. I think I should keep it :) Not sure if this was a digital or analogue one was methink it was digital but that time there not so many differences to the not that expensive little synths no matter who produced them, often monophonic with onem sound that was good, but god thanks it was possiblem to change the sound of the patxch, also you could change it completelöy but if you wanted to have it back you used a key comnination on the menu and you could reset it. unfortunately, only reset all was possible.
You could work with it, but it is so heavy that it has to stay at home anyway so on live gigs, maybe the RS-70 would be found there but often only the guitarsynths are there...plus sliders. Effects too, of course, many delays and multieffects of Behringer for example I got them now for ages and most of them still seem to work, even though some of them were all the times with us on the road. So one little halfseize rack multieffect I had to throw out as it suddenly started to smell of burning wires and some smoke came out of the air-slots, but my timemachine by Ibanez is still working, even tho I think time to replace some parts as the delays are also a bit too delayed….means the sound is not stable could be dirt on the control tho on the potentiometers or so on. I will check this.

Woody Hafner: Mastering of La Commedia Divina (CDs 1-6)

Inspirations: In October 2018 I sat with Christopf von Löw in his kitchen, we had a smoke and talked about life, but also that I had turned a lot of literatural works into music. That time I was on the Lovecraft series and started already the Dreamworlds/Dragonworld series. It was Rick’s 60th birthday. I also talked about the time when I met Rick a short time before I moved to Italy and that I turned the Novel Lilith by George MacDonald into music at that time.
Our chats at that evening lead that I had the wish to do another musical form of another EPOS, that intensive our chats were.
At least it was strange that when La Commedia Divina went to Woody for the mastering, I heard that Christoph passed away.
So, my friend, this album is for you. You were a good guy and it was awesome to talk with you.
This album is also for my sister Miriam, this world is so feckin’ empty without you!!!
